The Boeing Vertol CH-47 Chinook is a large, tandem-rotor,
heavy-lift helicopter. It was developed by the Vertol Company
(which later became part of Boeing) in the 1960s. The CH-47 is
one of the most iconic and enduring military helicopters, serving
in numerous roles including troop transport, artillery movement,
and disaster relief. Its distinctive tandem rotor design provides
excellent lift capacity and stability.
The KV-107, also known as the "Shirasagi" (Egret) in Japanese
service, is a derivative of the earlier Vertol Y-1B/V-22 Osprey.
The Japan Defense Agency (now Japan Self-Defense Forces)
operated the KV-107 in various roles, including transport, SAR
(Search and Rescue), and VIP transport. These helicopters were
a significant part of Japan's aerial capabilities for many years.
