1988 Glencoe Models 1/32 McDonnell XV-1 Convertiplane plastic model kit
The McDonnell XV-1 Convertiplane was an experimental
American tiltrotor aircraft developed by McDonnell Aircraft
Corporation in the 1950s. It was designed to combine the
vertical takeoff and landing capabilities of a helicopter with the
speed and range of a conventional airplane. The XV-1 featured
two large rotors mounted on stub wings that could tilt forward
to provide thrust for forward flight.
Glencoe Models is a brand known for producing plastic model
kits, often reissuing older molds. This particular kit, the
McDonnell XV-1 Convertiplane, allows hobbyists to build a scale
replica of this unique experimental aircraft. Such kits are popular
among aviation enthusiasts and collectors interested in historical
aircraft and modeling.
