launched in 1957 by the British company Lines Bros Ltd. under
their Tri-ang toys division. The name 'Scalextric' was derived
from a combination of 'Scales' (as in scale models) and 'Electric'.
Scalextric sets typically consist of a track system that can be

and two or more cars that run on the track. The popularity of
Scalextric grew significantly in the 1960s and 1970s, becoming
